How to make a website with google sites

Google Sites is a Google service that helps you create a website. You can use the freely available web service to create a dynamic and interactive website with just a few clicks.

No HTML knowledge required! By default, sites use the WYSIWYG editor. Its interface also accommodates advanced users who want to manually edit HTML code.

Because Google Sites is a Google service, before you can use it to build websites that you must first sign up for a Google account. Go to your web browser and Google site website to register a new account. If you are already registered with another Google service such as Gmail, you can use the same credentials to log into Google sites.

Step By Step Methods

1.Choose a name and address

Click the Create button on the site dashboard which takes you to the screen to create a new site. Here enter your site name which is automatically appended to the URL of your website without any space.

2.Theme and template selection

By default, sites do not use a template for new websites to give you complete control over its design. However, you can base your website on an existing template. Select one of the popular templates listed or click on ‘Browse Gallery for More’. Next, expand the ‘Select Theme’ drawer and choose one of the listed themes.

3.Edit site layout

The sites will now create your new website and you can edit and customize it using the buttons in the top right corner. To change the default layout, click on the gear icon and go to ‘Edit Site Layout’. Now you can enable / disable and rearrange some elements of your website such as the sidebar based on the theme already selected.

4.Create a page

To add a new page, click on ‘Create Page’. Then, name the page and the template it will be based on. Use the default web page template. Click ‘Learn more’ to read about other templates. Finally, select a hierarchical position for the page, for example, whether you want to place it in addition to existing pages or under one.

5.Add content

You will now be taken to the sites’ WYSIWYG interface to add and edit content. The interface looks similar to any text editor.

You can use the menu at the top to change the layout of the page, add multiple columns, insert tables, images, and even include a +1 button for visitors to recommend the page can do.

6.General Website Management

Repeat steps 4 and 5 to exclude your website with many pages and content.

Before you unveil your creation to the world, set and configure some key elements by clicking on the Gears button and visiting the managed site. Here you can change the name of the website and add a more detailed description.

7.Control Access

To control access to your website, click on the Gears icon, go to the Manage Site option and go to Sharing and Disconnect. By default, new websites can be viewed by anyone. To curb access, click on the Change … link under ‘Who has access’ to restrict access to the URL on your website or access a specific list of people.

8.Track and revert changes

That is, now you can invite other users to visit your website. As you modify your website over time, you can keep track of changes by clicking on the Gears icon and going to Revision History.
